INTRODUCTION
J.P. Morgan said The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are which emphasis why we should embrace change.
Sometimes, we look around and realize we’re not happy with how things are. Suddenly, we imagine a better life for ourselves then doubt creeps in. We wonder if we’re capable of making that change, if we even deserve it. It’s a moment of uncertainty, where we question our worth and our ability to shape our own destiny.
Feeling hesitant, questioning your worth, and battling fears are common experiences for anyone stepping into something new. When you’re ready to break free from your comfort zone and soar, you’ll face resistance. But it’s those who are determined to live a fulfilling life who push past it. And if you’re reading this, I believe you’re one of those people.
The first step to embrace change is to do :
SELF-REFLECTION
To change your life, start by exploring yourself from within. This means discovering:
- Who you truly are.
- Your strengths and weaknesses.
- What you’re passionate about.
- What brings you joy.
- What aspects of your life you dislike and how you can change them.
- Identifying what’s holding you back.
For the most effective self-reflection, it’s crucial to be honest with yourself. Try doing this while looking at yourself in the mirror, especially when you’re asking yourself important questions. Another helpful tip is to write down your answers. This way, you can revisit them later to regain your sense of direction if needed.

GOAL-SETTING
Before you can accomplish anything, you need to know exactly what it is you want to achieve. This starts by setting goals. Goal setting helps you map out both your long-term and short-term aspirations, giving direction to your life. For tips on how to set effective goals, check out the goal-setting series on my YouTube channel.
When you set goals pay attention to the following:
- Specific: Define your goals clearly and precisely. Avoid vague objectives and instead focus on what exactly you want to achieve.
- Measurable: Establish criteria for measuring your progress and success. This could include metrics like deadlines, quantities, or other tangible indicators of achievement.
- Achievable: Set goals that are realistic and attainable within your current resources and capabilities. While it’s good to aim high, ensure your goals are within reach with effort and commitment.
- Relevant: Align your goals with your values, priorities, and long-term objectives. Ensure they are meaningful and contribute to your overall growth and success.
- Time-Bound: Set clear deadlines or timeframes for achieving your goals. This adds a sense of urgency and helps you stay focused and motivated.
Do not forget to celebrate all the wins that you have on the way and be compassionate with yourself and remember, setbacks are meant to teach you something not to stop you.
ACTION-PLAN
Simply writing down your goals isn’t sufficient , you need a plan to achieve them. Ensure your short-term goals are stepping stones toward your long-term objectives. Think of your long-term goals as the big picture and your short-term goals as pieces of that puzzle. Then, create a schedule that effectively prioritizes and organizes your daily tasks to help you reach all your goals.

CHANGING YOUR HABITS
To bring about change, you have to change your approach. That means shaking up your routine and letting go of anything that’s not helping you grow. Start by:
- Reading: Reading isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some find themselves dozing off after just a few pages. It might sound like a weak excuse to book lovers, but I get it—I’ve been there myself. But here’s the thing: getting comfortable with reading might not happen overnight, but it’s definitely doable. I’ve been through it, and so can you. Reading is key to gaining knowledge and personal growth.
- Exercise: Improving your fitness is a great way to boost your mood and energy levels. With various types of exercises available, it’s important to pick the one that fits you best for optimal results. Whether it’s aerobics, yoga, meditation, or weight/strength training, find what resonates with you.
- Self Care: To achieve something you have to be in good health so that you can be productive. Taking care of yourself involves having;
–Rest days: Taking a day to relax and indulging in your favourite shows can be the perfect way to recharge after a busy week. It’s essential to give yourself that time to unwind and enjoy some well deserved leisure.
–Dates: You can also treat yourself to a solo date or bring a friend along for some extra fun.
–Spar day: You can create your own spa day at home by setting the mood with candles, playing soothing music, and enjoying a warm bath. It’s a great way to unwind and relax.
